LeAnne Chancey Hicks

Of Counsil

LeAnne Chancey Hicks brings a distinctive combination of technical training, prosecutorial experience, and extensive courtroom experience to her representation of clients.

Originally from East Tennessee, LeAnne earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, cum laude, from Tennessee Technological University before attending the University of Tennessee College of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 2008.

While attending law school, LeAnne worked as a civil and environmental engineer with CH2M Hill. Her engineering practice focused primarily on land development, including the design of utilities, stormwater systems, site development, and roadways. That background continues to influence the analytical, detail-oriented approach she brings to the practice of law.

After law school, LeAnne began her legal career in private practice, where she advised and represented small-business owners. She later joined the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney, serving as both a Juvenile Court and Superior Court prosecutor. During her time as a prosecutor, she handled hundreds of criminal matters ranging from traffic and misdemeanor offenses to serious felony prosecutions.

LeAnne is an experienced trial attorney who has served as lead or trial counsel in a wide variety of complex matters. Her courtroom experience includes cases involving murder, rape, aggravated assault, child molestation and other violent offenses; drug and white-collar crimes; as well as divorce, child custody and family-law disputes, contract litigation, personal injury matters, and insurance disputes.

That breadth of experience allows LeAnne to approach each case strategically and from multiple perspectives. She is meticulous in preparing her cases and places a strong emphasis on understanding not only the legal issues involved, but also the practical consequences for the client. She brings the same level of preparation and attention to detail to every matter, whether negotiating a resolution or preparing a case for trial.

Outside of the office, LeAnne enjoys spending time with her husband and their Jack Russell Terrier. She also enjoys hiking, biking, swimming, and reading.
